There are 2 main types of assessments given in my classroom: Formative and Summative. 80% of the grade is determined by Summative Assessments while 20% is determined by Formative Assessments.
Students will work to develop skills in the following Common Core Standards: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, and Language Usage.
In the electronic Gradebook, you will see four categories for assessments: Daily Work (DW), Homework (HW), Tests (T), and Exams (E).
Summative Assessments (Tests and Exams) can be done again 1 time within 3 days of getting the work returned to them in order to improve a grade on that assignment. Arrangements to do this work must be mutually determined between the student and me.
Formative Assessments (Daily Work and Homework) are not able to be submitted again to improve a grade.
Daily Work (DW) includes work done in class. Homework (HW) includes work done outside of class.
