Students in Swift's Language Arts class are experience a writing "virus" that is spreading like an epidemic. Many students are able to tell their what they believe in the form of claims, but they struggle to show why they believe what they do in the form of evidence on all of their writing assignments.
"Students are pushing hard to read with greater attention to detail and this is a good thing because they know what is happening in the readings. But when it comes to writing, they struggle to demonstrate they understand why things happen in these readings, especially when it comes to putting it down on paper under stressful conditions like assessments." says their teacher, Mr. Swift.
Students are encouraged to get extra help by staying after school or making an effort to give up a lunch time to meet with the teacher to discuss strategies which might help them in the future.
